On January 11, 2026, local time, the Burkina Faso Grid Upgrade Project, undertaken by TKEC, achieved a major milestone—the 225kV-200MVA transformer at the Zagtouli Substation was successfully energized in a single attempt. The equipment is currently operating stably with all parameters within normal range.

This transformer is the "core equipment" with the highest voltage level and largest capacity in Burkina Faso's national grid. Its successful commissioning not only marks a critical breakthrough in the project but also holds milestone significance for enhancing regional power supply capacity and strengthening grid security.

Facing multiple challenges such as a tight schedule, heavy workload, and high technical complexity, the project team, under the company leadership’s coordinated guidance, has scientifically planned construction processes, precisely allocated resources, and strengthened on-site management in all aspects, overcoming one difficulty after another with solid expertise.

From project commencement to the smooth installation of the transformer, it took only six months, while the overall timeline from project launch to achieving energization readiness was controlled within one year. These impressive figures not only set new benchmarks for project progress but also fully demonstrated the efficient, pragmatic work style and strong execution capabilities of the TKEC project team, showcasing "Taikai Efficiency" to the world!

On the day of energization, executives from SONABEL (Burkina Faso’s National Electricity Company), including the Transmission Department Director and the Project Manager, were present to witness the achievement and spoke highly of the project’s results. They remarked that the Taikai project team demonstrated dedication and responsibility, consistently addressing issues with a positive, optimistic, and rigorous attitude throughout the process. The collaboration with TKEC was described as professional, efficient, and enjoyable.

During the final acceptance and energization phase, all members of the project team worked together seamlessly and devoted themselves fully. In particular, Guo Lei, the project’s technical lead, remained on the front lines from the start of the acceptance process and worked continuously for 36 hours before energization, closely monitoring key procedures. His professionalism and unwavering commitment ensured the safety and stability of the energization process. Colleagues affectionately refer to him as the "unsung hero," a true reflection of the responsibility and dedication of frontline builders.

The successful energization of the main transformer T4 at the Zagtouli Substation is the result of the collective efforts and perseverance of the entire project team, as well as the strong collaboration of various supporting departments. Moving forward, the project team will continue to follow the company’s deployment, steadily advance the energization work at remaining substations, and uphold high standards and strict requirements to complete all subsequent tasks. The goal is to achieve overall project completion and delivery in the first half of 2026, contributing Taikai’s strength to the development of Burkina Faso’s power grid.

A new year begins a new journey, and it’s time to strive for greater achievements! Kudos to every Taikai employee working steadfastly overseas. Let’s look forward to more good news from international projects!
